The Future Of Indirect Tax And Technology

11 years 2 weeks ago #64 by Caspar001

In my presentation, I identified and discussed a number of global business trends that will increase in importance over the coming decade.

These include:
  1. Globalisation and the roles that multinational organizations such as the OECD, the European Commission and the UN play in the tax world.
  2. Tax hyper-regulation, which will continue to increase the compliance burden on business, especially those that operate worldwide.
  3. The imperatives of strong corporate governance, risk management and transparency in the tax field.
  4. The focus on environmental issues and the application of green taxes in an attempt to drive less damaging behaviours.
  5. The tax talent shortage, which has been worsening for more than 10 years and which does not look like it will improve in the short or medium term.
  6. The rise of technology to meet these challenges and how automation will necessarily change the way we work and the skill sets we will need in the future.
