Belgium's E-invoicing via Peppol 4-Corner Model Goes Live

In January 2028, Belgium will implement a 5-corner Peppol model, incorporating e-invoicing and near-real-time e-reporting of transaction data.

This mandate applies exclusively to resident businesses. Following this, e-reporting to the tax authorities will begin on January 1, 2028.

Starting December 2, 2025, there will be a three-month grace period during which taxpayers who make a genuine effort to comply with the January 1, 2026, e-invoicing requirement will not face fines or loss of deductibility. The Belgian tax authorities will require evidence that businesses made serious attempts to send and receive e-invoices, with issues arising only due to technical or system difficulties.
